I can't tell you how long I sat at my computer and stared at this screen before I actually started typing something. This is my first blog post so bare with me! Most of you who follow me already know me or have gotten wind of my photography journey. So what else is there to know?
It's pretty simple, really. I graduated high school, went to Penn State and received my BA in psychology, and spent 11 years in the service industry. You know how it goes.. you make plans for your life and life just has other plans for you. I don't regret those years. In fact I actually learned a lot and met some really great people I otherwise would have never known. But you know that feeling you get when you feel like something's missing? It's as if you lost something, you don't know what it is you've lost and you have no idea where to look for it (think Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II). That's pretty much where I was at.
I created Lissy Lens Photography 2 years ago and reignited my burning passion for photography. But again, life got in the way and God had other plans for me so I had to put it on the back burner for a while. And you know what? That's okay! Because I'm here now and I'm so excited to go full speed ahead!
Alright, so that wasn't a TON of info to digest so I made a list of some fun facts you may not know about me!
I LOVE plants & flowers (did the photos give it away?) My houseplants are my babies & I honestly don't ever think you can have enough!
I have an obsession with skeleton keys. (You can pretty much have an Easter egg hunt for skeleton keys in my home).
I married my best friend & we've been happily married for 7 years! We love to do things together as a team (he even helped snap the photos you see here!)
I absolutely LOVE The Office! Chances are if you come to our home it will be playing on the television (even if nobody is watching). PS - prepare for lots of Office GIFs in the future...
In my downtime I enjoy reading with a BIG cup of tea (or an even BIGGER glass of wine). - currently reading Outlander "Voyager." The novels are long but I promise you'll never want to set them down!
My favorite music genres to listen to are jazz and reggae (Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra/Rebelution, Tribal Seeds, Stick Figure). A bit of a flower child with an old soul if you will..
My entire life I've been a dog person and somehow I ended up becoming a cat mom to a Lynx Siamese, Gidget, and a Bengal mix, LuLu. Gidget LOVES her toys & will give you kisses in exchange for a treat, while LuLu is very vocal and SUPER snuggly.
My happy place is located in the Outer Banks, NC. I love how simple life becomes at the beach, not to mention you'll see some of the most beautiful sunsets at Jockeys Ridge State Park! Although, you won't catch me in the water because I can't swim (pretty ironic considering I'm a pisces).
One of my favorite hobbies is restoring old furniture. I love bringing vintage pieces back to life and giving them a new purpose! (I'll display some of my work in a future blog post).
My dream place to visit would be Italy, for the art, architecture, food, and of course the WINE!
