One of my greatest joys is photographing newly engaged couples.. the love, the excitement, the wedding planning, the RING! There's so much to swoon over. So when Alec contacted me back in January about capturing the proposal I was thrilled!
Here's their proposal story:
Alec was set on popping the question in Jim Thorpe, the most charming little town.. if you haven't had a chance to visit, definitely get out there! Perfect for outdoor activities like hiking, biking & whitewater rafting.. a romantic getaway.. or just explore the town's shops. He wanted a spot on Broadway that overlooked the town and captured the 1893 historic clock tower. We settled on a spot across the street from the Dreisbach House to give us the perfect view. Alec planned to show up with Lauren around 3:30pm and I arrived early to find a hiding spot and stakeout. I hid behind a few cars to capture the intimate moment. We were totally successful at being hush-hush about all the details, and needless to say Lauren was super surprised! I snapped a couple quick photos of the happy couple before they jetted off to dinner with family to celebrate....If you wanna see photos from Alec & Lauren's Jim Thorpe proposal head over to my Facebook & Instagram pages!
Although Jim Thorpe is beautiful in the winter months Alec & Lauren wanted to schedule their full engagement session during a warmer season. They decided on the Allentown Rose Gardens which could not have been more perfect for these two! As love can symbolize many things.. love, like a garden, symbolizes new life and growth.
When I met Lauren for the first time I already knew she was going to make the most beautiful bride inside and out. But when she showed up Sunday morning to their session wearing the cutest WHITE romper (WITH pockets I might add! Because if you know me you know I love a dress/romper with pockets!!) I got all the wedding day feels.
Not only are Alec & Lauren such a FUN couple, their love for one another is fun too. They kept me laughing throughout our shoot. We chatted about their new big purchase - their first home and their upcoming wedding in October 2023.
We had the dreamiest golden hour sunlight spreading across the foliage. Even if you're not a morning person I promise a sunrise session is totally worth it! We met at 5:30am and ended around 6:30am.. just in time for this cute couple to head over to a local café for Alec's morning coffee.
It's super normal to be a little nervous before your session. Engagement sessions are a great way to allow yourself time to get comfortable in front of the camera before your big day. You have the opportunity to be photographed in a more relaxed and casual setting allowing you to display your authentic selves. They're also the perfect time to work with your hair and makeup artist as a trial run for your big day. Plus, don't forget to consider your wedding planning process - engagement & wedding announcements, save-the-dates, building a wedding website, wedding invitations, bridal showers and even personalized favors.
But all else aside, my favorite reason for you to schedule engagement photos are to document a once-in-a-lifetime moment of joy and excitement before marrying your soulmate.
xx
